Texas Student Dietetic Association

With 20 chapters across the state, TSDA has connected Texas students in the field of dietetics since 1974! Members of TSDA obtain the resources to be involved not only at their university in the Student Dietetic Association local chapter but also at the district, state, and national levels.

This website will be used to connect dietetic students in the state of Texas. Along with TSDA updates, there will be nutrition articles, internship advice, recipes, and everything in between!

STUDENT LEADERSHIP

Rachael Beard (President):

Howdy! My name is Rachael Beard, and I am the 2022-2023 TSDA president. I am a senior nutrition major in the DPD track at Texas A&M University with a minor in business. I am also a part of the Texas A&M Gymnastics team, where I serve as the Women’s Team Captain. I also love playing with my dog and baking in my free time!

Bailee Chavez (President-Elect)

Howdy! My name is Bailee Chavez, and I am a Sophomore Nutrition major at Texas A&M University. I am honored to be this year’s TSDA President-Elect and look forward to providing state-wide opportunities for service, recreation, and fellowship! My passion for nutrition stems from an eating disorder I struggled with in middle school. For me, recovery looked like learning to eat a wholesome diet and live a balanced lifestyle. As I pursue my goal of becoming a registered dietitian, I look forward to helping others live healthier and happier lives. My goal is to become a clinical outpatient dietitian and eventually open up my practice. In addition to TSDA, I enjoy participating in the Nutrition and Dietetics Association and conducting nutrition research alongside professionals in the field. In my free time, you can find me working out, grabbing coffee with friends, journaling, or writing on my blog. I look forward to leading alongside my teammates this year!

Breanna Chavez (Secretary):

Howdy! My name is Breanna Chavez, and I’m a sophomore Dietetics student at Texas A&M University. Nutrition has been an interest of mine for as long as I can remember, and I’m so honored to be able to serve this association as Secretary. In addition to this role, I am also a Student Researcher for the RD Mentorship Program as well as a student ambassador for the TAMU Nutrition Diversity and Inclusion Committee. In my free time, I love staying active by trying new workout classes! I also enjoy listening to podcasts and spending time with my friends and family. My career goal is to become a registered dietitian. I look forward to serving TSDA this year!

Reagan Michels (Treasurer)

My name is Reagan Rose Michels,

I am a senior in the Didactic Program in Dietetics at Texas State University. I first fell in love with nutrition in my first high school health class. I also struggled with a poor food relationship as a high school athlete, but my love for nutrition deepened as I worked through that struggle alongside a health professional. I continued to work for nutrition professionals throughout my college career and learned much from a dietician certified in diabetes education (CDE). This work experience allowed me to see that my heart is with studying nutrition and working with people. I am currently an intern for a private practice dietitian and a CEO assistant for an online exercise coaching company, and in my free time, I love to jog and make new recipes.

I’m honored to serve as the TSDA Treasurer this year and look forward to working with other TSDA officers and building relationships with fellow dietetic students!

Alexis Zafereo (Historian)

Hello, everyone! My name is Alexis Zafereo, and I serve as the TSDA Historian. I am a senior in the Didactic Program in Dietetics with a minor in chemistry at Texas State University. When I am not at the library studying, I am also on the Texas State Strutter drill team, where I serve as a line officer. In my free time, I love to be outdoor with my fur buddy, creating yummy healthy food, and dancing! I am so excited and grateful to be an officer for TSDA for another year!
