It’s Texas Academy Awards Time!

The Texas Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics awards are a great opportunity to recognize those who have made an outstanding contribution to the dietetics profession, region and state association. See below for instructions for the award nomination and application process.

Award Applications are due Wednesday, November 16, 2022 at 11:59 pm.

A Few Important Points:

• Nominees must be Texas Academy members at the time their application is submitted. The exception is for the Bluebonnet Award and Media Awards. Students receiving an award must be a member by January 1, 2023.
• All award applications require a resume, two letters of recommendation and a personal statement, so start early with the process!

• Eligibility requirements:
  • All applicants must work in Texas or attend a Texas university.
  • Review the eligibility requirements for each award and verify that you/your nominee meets the criteria. See the award descriptions in the links.
• Nomination Process
  • Nominate a colleague. You do not need to be a TAND officer to nominate.
    Inform the nominee directly of your nomination and the award for which they are qualified. The nominee has the choice to accept or decline the nomination and complete the application.
  • Nominate yourself by completing an application!

Submitting the packet:

• Nominees (including self-nominated) need to complete the online application. Uploaded documents should be saved as Last Name, First Name. Once application is submitted, you will receive a message that says “Your responses have been recorded.” This will be the only confirmation of your application submittal.
• Application Deadline: November 16, 2022 at 11:59 pm. Late applications will not be accepted.

Benefits and Recognition:

Winning a state or Academy Affiliate Award is a great honor and will be an asset to any resume! All winners will be invited to the Awards Ceremony at the Texas Academy Annual Conference and Exhibition in April to be recognized and receive the award. Academy Affiliate Award Winners will also receive a congratulatory letter and certificate signed by the president of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics. Names of Affiliate Award winners will be published in the Journal of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.

Scoring of Nominations

Members of the Nominating/Awards Committee will score applications using the scoring criteria in the awards descriptions. Award nominees will be notified of results no later than March 1, 2023.
